Safety Tips for Crafters

Do not turn stove on to boil water for cooking rice and then go and sneak a bit of stitching in .
Do not move pretty element covers and turn stove on and then go and sneak a bit of stitching in .
Do not move pretty element covers to the same element that you want to turn on to boil water for cooking rice and then go and sneak a bit of stitching in .
Do not ignore children asking what are you cooking mum ?
Do not ignore smoke billowing from your stove even if you are only boiling water to cook rice .
I've learnt my lesson .

My Creative Space

These pretty charm squares were left on the verandah overnight and got a little damp with the morning dew .
While they dry I'll be making a chocolate cake and trying not to burn the kitchen down again !
That's a story for another day .
Now we are on the subject of charm I was not very charming last week .
I was so excited to join in My Creative Space I didn't acknowledge the hostess Kirsty , bit rude .
Sorry .

Happy Birthday Stacey

Stacey from Polka Dot Daze is having a birthday ! It is also her blog birthday so she is celebrating big time !
Stacey recently opened her Etsy store and has been selling her Peg Pinny Aprons like crazy and now she's going to give me one away as a birthday treat . Her Peg Pinny Aprons are so gorgeous I really, really want one .
Stacey's birthday is almost over but it's not too late to pop over and say Happy Birthday and if you do miss out on the present you might have to join me in the line to buy one from her Etsy store .
Happy Birthday Stacey .

My Creative Space (first timer)

Is it really any wonder I get so distracted with this view .
The weather has been just glorious lately so I have been spending time on my verandah catching up on paperwork and you know , stuff !
So this is my creative space for the time being .

Pattern Testers that push !

You may remember a while back I was working with these fabrics for my new softie .
Well as I normally do I made a few mockups in calico and then cut into these pretties .
I made up the design taking numerous notes as I went along .
I got right to the nitty gritty of writing the pattern when I heard voices ...
It was these fabrics saying
" pssst come and play with us you know you want to "!
So I did !
Here I am at the nitty gritty stage again when I know some of the other designers have finished .
One is having a lovely weekend one is cracking the whip at me and one is now on parole .
The idea of me wanting "pushy pattern testers" is that if I commit to you I really need to do something .
Some lovely bloggers have offered their services to test my new pattern and now I have set dates and exchanged details .
I would like one more Aussie blogger who has never made a softie before .
You will be rewarded with my neverending gratitude .
Push , push , push !

Edited - Thankyou for your generosity I now have the testers I need .
PS - The second photo of fabric that led me astray was all purchased from Funky Fabrix
it was a birthday present to myself but we don't need to tell my husband , do we?

Oh no , not another makeover !

Sorry but this will be the last one for a little while.
I covered the inset of an old picture frame with pretty papers and added a couple of scrapbooking odds and ends and then screwed in some hooks .
The frame was painted in the nicest green but it hasn't come across very well in the photo .
The hooks are for my daughter to hang her jewellery on .
Now if I can just get her to clean her room !
Hopefully my next post I will be asking for pattern testers for my new softie .
I think this is probably why I have been doing so many makeovers lately as I've been putting off the pattern writing .
Maybe not such a good way to run a business .......

What's in the box ?

I mentioned last week I had a rather large cutlery box taking up space in The Craftroom.
As I was already painting the picture frames I thought it was time to do something with this box .
It was sanded and painted and it came up looking alright .
The inside was then lined with pretty fabric .
The lids were taken off the embroidery floss boxes and they fitted perfectly .
I now have my threads all in one place , room for hoops and clippers and needles.
It is now a very useful box and darn lovely too !

Shut the gate I'm 48 !

As you can tell by my post title my mental maturity isn't quite keeping pace with my physical aging .
I'm off this morning to have morning tea with the girls but I haven't forgotten you . This delightful cake was once a double layer sponge with fabric jam and cream oozing between the layers but one day I ran out of stuffing and pulled the bottom layer off and took it apart . Really must fix it again .Anyway please help yourself to a piece of my birthday cake , mind the pins though .
PS It's Lisa from Lydias Treasures birthday today too so Happy Birthday Lisa !
